Glashutte is the most famous German watchmaking region, with Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte having the accolade of remaining the last watch manufacturer still owned by a long established local family. Initially founded to produce highly precise measuring instruments for the watch manufacturers of the region, they have expanded and now produce high quality wristwatches, as well as marine time systems and nautical instruments.
