Showtime at the Apollo for Jorg Gray Wearing US President
The highest level of American politics has a recent tradition of displaying the musical talent of the office holders. Bill Clinton for instance famously played the saxophone, whilst both Richard Nixon and Harry Truman were well known for their piano playing prowess. Last Thursday night (19th January), the US Commander in Chief took to the stage at Harlem, New York’s legendary Apollo Theatre and showed off his own musical skills by delivering a surprise serenade during a fundraiser for the upcoming presidential elections.
The songs writer, the Rev. Al Green was amongst the guests gathered in the auditorium of the venue that has a powerful connection to the civil rights protests of the 1960’s. The Chief Executive choice of song was "Let's Stay Together" originally released in 1971. It has since been covered by an number of artists including Tina Turner.
