A new best lap time of 1 minute 41.712 seconds from Jonathan Rea riding his Castrol Honda, gives the Northern Irish rider his second Tissot Watches Superpole as he set out to end the World Superbikes season on a high. Second place on the grid was taken by newly crowned champion Althea Racing Ducati Carlos Checa.
Taking two pole positions back to back is an achievement for the back-in-form rider. At season’s end, he was more than 300 point off the championship spot, coming ninth out of 35 riders, but the improvement in recent weeks marks an advance on his previous form.
Tissot Watches other major motorsports sponsorships are in the MotoGP format. Here Nicky Hayden lies in a mid-table position. He is currently eight in the standings with 132 points more than 200 points behind leading rider Casey Stoner. In the development league Moto2, Thomas Luthi, who like Hayden is also an ambassador for the Swiss based brand of Tissot watches.
Moto GP will conclude at Valencia, Spain on 6th November.
