Hollywood leading man George Clooney was honoured with a Golden Globe at last night’s awards ceremony.

OMEGA watches ambassador Clooney was named ‘Best Actor’ in the ‘Drama’ category for his performance in ‘The Descendants’, out in the UK at the end of the month.

The actor beat off opposition from Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender and previous onscreen co-stars Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling.

‘The Descendants’ also won ‘Best Picture – Drama’ at the awards, trumping Clooney’s other star vehicle in the running, ‘The Ides of March’.

Other big winners on the night included Meryl Streep, Michelle Williams, Martin Scorsese and Oscars favourite ‘The Artist’, which scored three coveted awards including ‘Best Picture – Comedy or Musical’.

The best in US TV was also commended, with shows including ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Homeland’ awarded alongside Brit hit ‘Downton Abbey’.

Clooney wore a black suit and bow tie to the awards bash, posing with girlfriend Stacy Keibler on the red carpet. A timepiece was spotted on Clooney’s wrist that looked suspiciously like an OMEGA – keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook pages for confirmation.

Either way, a big well done to Mr Clooney, who celebrates his second Golden Globe in a lead acting category following his 2000 success for ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ The OMEGA watches ambassador will next be seen in sci-fi thriller ‘Gravity’, which is currently in post-production.
