Sebastian Vettel continued to add to his tally of wins in this year’s F1 Drivers championship by taking the chequered flag at the inaugural Indian GP on Sunday (30th October)
The Casio Watches fan sprinted into the lead at the start of the race leading each subsequent lap. Competition came from Brit Jenson Button who at got the gap down to less than three seconds, but Vettel was always in command and the result was never in doubt.
Vettel’s win brings the world champion’s points tally to 374 from Button chasing on 240. In the constructors’ stakes, Red Bull have 595 points to McLaren’s 442 which means the British team have secured second place in the standings.
Casio Watches Ambassador, Vettel also set the fastest lap of the race - on the very last lap - for the third time this season. The time set on the new track will mean he will be the marker of success for future GP’s held at the venue. It means the Casio Watches Ambassador could catch team-mate Australian Mark Webber, who is still the clear leader in the 2011 DHL Fastest Lap Award standings on five, followed by himself, Hamilton and Button on three apiece.
