Marc by Marc Jacobs Watches
Designers draw their inspiration from the world around them and from their earliest influences. For the man behind Marc by Marc Jacobs watches, those early influences were of his family life in Manhattan Island, New York, one of the most glamorous cities in the world.
Born in 1963 and graduating from the High School of Art and Design, in 1981, the young fashion mogul entered the prestigious Parsons School of Design. By 1987 he had launched his eponymous catwalk fashion label, receiving the honour of being the youngest person to have been awarded the US garment industries highest tribute, The Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent.
A decade later and in addition to his own label opening a store on Mercer Street in New York’s trendy SoHo area, Louis Vuitton also harnessed the creative force as part of their team.
Marc Jacobs Watches: Beyond 2000
In 2001, a secondary line was introduced with a spring runway show. This line included the popular Marc by Marc Jacobs watches range as well as a complete ready to wear clothing line for men and women. The new ranges including Marc by Marc Jacobs watches proved popular and was soon available far beyond its New York origins. Stores for the brand opened in Paris, Madrid, Istanbul and Athens in 2004. Celebrities as diverse as Musician Jarvis Cocker and film director Sofia Coppola have worn the clothing range.
Watches in the collection feature stainless steel bodies, high quality and reliable quartz mechanisms and are available in a number of styles including gold effect finishes and leather straps. Other designs are available including chronograph movements.
